Dear Friends.......

As I write, the contributors to the recent Bible readings in Fresh From The Word have been focussing on trees.  One reading was from Isaiah 55:12-13, which includes the song we regularly sing in church entitled “You shall go out in joy and be led back in peace”, describes the trees clapping their hands.  On a breezy day in spring nature really seems to be clapping its hands with the joy of living.  We should learn from nature and try to find joy in all that we do.

This song also brings the message of a hope for peace in our world, peace that mankind really needs to work at.  It is one of my favourite songs.  I love it when we gradually speed up.  The tune reminds me of the dance “The Hora” where the dancers gradually speed up too.  Perhaps we should try dancing to it!

Last week I walked through the park and was entranced by the bluebells on the banks beside the path and nestling amongst the trees in the woods.  At this time of year, you can’t help but be awed by the earth’s beauty.  Spending time in nature feeds the soul.  I plan to do more of it!

Like many others, I am starting to think about planting pots for the summer.  I love to get my hands dirty positioning the new plants or sprinkling seeds. Nurturing them and seeing them grow and flourish gives me a lot of pleasure.  As a rookie gardener I am not always successful, but I enjoy trying!  I feel that life is a bit like that.  All you can do is your best and hope and pray that with God’s help you will succeed.
